                           Rock ’n’ Roll 2021

Rock’n’Roll is the Club’s premier annual event. The extended weekend draws sea kayakers from near and far to join in on a full program of trips, training and social activities.

The appeal of R’n’R is broad ranging: participants have the option of embracing the event full on or treating it as relaxed weekend to chill out with a leisurely paddle or two, catch up with mates and make new friends.

R’n’R 2021 will be held from 5 to 8 March 2021 at the coastal hamlet of Currarong, a comfortable two-and-half hour drive south from Sydney’s CBD (much less from Canberra). The event base will be the Holiday Haven Resort situated on Currarong Inlet.

    What to expect

Sea kayaking trips will include a wide range of half day and full day trips –– on coastal and enclosed waters. Iconic destinations include the rugged cliffs and rock stacks (Drum and Drumsticks) of the spectacular Beecroft Peninsula and the sea caves and rock gardens along the northern shores of Jervis Bay.

On-water and off-water training sessions will cover a broad range of kayak related skills.

The social side of the event kicks off on Friday evening with the long-established Expedition Kayaks hosted nosh-up of local fare washed down by liquid refreshments. A selection of DVDs from the Club’s extensive library will be screening well into the night.

The Saturday evening event will be held around the club's marquee. You can bring your own meal or go with the chicken, salmon or vegetarian dinner which need to be ordered as part of a registration package or purchased through the on-line shop prior to R'n'R.  All drinks will be BYO. At this stage no after dinner speaker has been organised but there will be some form of optional activity following dinner.

Sunday evening’s entertainment will be in the marquee with the screening of entries in the prestigious Pogies Awards. (member’s own kayaking videos with massive bragging rights being awarded to the winner)

    Accommodation options

The Holiday Haven Resort (phone 02 4429 5415) offers plenty of choices: cabins, studios, and powered and unpowered campsites. Attendees at R’n’R 2021 will need to make their own bookings.

We recommend securing your accommodation sooner rather than later as it’s a popular destination. When booking, make sure you mention that you are attending R’n’R in order to get the 10% discount that we have negotiated with the resort’s management.

    Raffles

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we have an array of prizes to be raffled.  You can buy raffle tickets when you register or at the event itself.

Please be generous with your support of the raffles. The revenue they raise helps us continue to maintain a moderate registration cost for the event.
