The paddle is to explore parts of the calm waters of the Lower Hawkesbury in the darkness of night, an experience that will enliven your other senses of hearing, smell, touch (but hopefully not taste!). The bioluminescence in the water with the stars reflecting from above can be amazing arguably more pretty than the NYE fireworks.
I have a gpx file of the route I can share if you want to load it up to your GPS device, it's a great navigation exercise.
Kayaks to grade 2 standard of course, plus an all-round white light is mandatory. Test before you come. No exceptions.
If you're not ready to buy a "proper" navigation light, this $2 option might suffice, but bring a head torch too. https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-solar-led-garden-light_p4351452 The inflatable LED camping lanterns should also be okay. It's important you are visible to us and other craft on the water, from any angle.
This paddle is weather dependent.
Go ahead for the trip will be confirmed 2 days beforehand.
Akuna Bay to Hallets Beach return is about 18km so we should be back by 9.30pm
