A MIDWEEK PADDLE - Palm Beach to Umina - Ettalong Beach

A MIDWEEK PADDLE - Palm Beach to Umina - Ettalong Beach

Date: Wed 7th Dec 2016

Grades; 2 - 3

When: 9.00am to 3.00pm

Where: From Palm Beach (Pitt water side) to Umina - Ettalong Beach

Please note:  This trip is part of a regular Weekly Friday Paddle group. If you want to find out more about this group you may want to check out The Friday Paddle group under Club Event List under Weekly Trips sub menu.

Because of the popularity of previous paddles out of Palm Beach to Umina and Ettalong inclusive of surfing the sandbars, I have scheduled another for Wednesday next week7th Dec (which I think is the Bombing of Pearl Harbour Anniversary). Probably meet at 8.30am and return to Palmie around 2.30pm. But, details yet to be confirmed to suit weather forecast. OANDORA XMAS PICNIC PADDLE 2016

OANDORA XMAS PICNIC PADDLE 2016

Date: Friday 16 Dec 2016
Where: Clontarf - Shark Island
When: 9.00am - 3.00pm
Grade: 0-3

Please mark Friday 16th in your diaries.
If you haven't recently been on a Friday Paddle (see WEEKLY PADDLES under Club Events List), we would particularly like to catch-up with you and hear what you have been up-to. Also, if you have any NSWSKC friends who are not on the OANDORA list, we would love to see them also (or better still, suggest that they enrol themself on the list via the links on the Club web site).

The actual details could change to suit the afternoon-before forecast but, based on previous, will probably be:-
a.. If you can, bring some picnic fare to share (if you find it too much of a last-minute Xmas hassle to do so, don't worry, we would love to see you anyway).
b.. Meet at Clontarf at 9.00am but finish later than our regular Friday outings., e.g. maybe return to Clontarf (if Clonnie is applicable) at around 2.30pm to 3.00ish.
c.. Although some of us may be setting-out from Clontarf, other sub-groups could well launch from Inner West, Little Sirius Cove Mosman and/or Rose Bay. (there will probably be some advance emailing between oandorians).
d.. Picnic venue will probably be Shark Island (subject to forecast). Bring some cash for National Parks landing fee (if applicable).
e.. Even if you have not paddled recently, we would still love to see you and will try to accommodate your current paddling speed. (plus you could well have the option of a shorter paddle across to the Island).
Its always a great fun day!
seeya!

Wreck Bay Explorer (South Jervis Bay area)

Wreck Bay Explorer (South Jervis Bay area)

Sunday 4th December 2016

Grade 2-3

Distance approximately 12Km

This trip is especially suitable for club members who would like to experience some of the fabulous south coast in a location fairly sheltered from NE winds. The area has many bays and beaches to explore so paddling long distance is not the agenda. There are several Holiday Parks in Huskisson. I will be staying at the White Sands Holiday Park 1300 733 028 (limited vacancies, 12 month rain check policy). Huskisson Beach is another possible park 1300 733 027.

I will email registrants on Thursday evening confirming the trip which will be dependent on suitable weather and sea conditions.

Email Mark at mjalchin1(at)bigpond.com if you have any questions.

Magnificent Montague Island

Name: Magnificent Montague Island – 10 & 11 Dec 2016.

Grade: Grade 2 or 3 only.

When: Be ready to hit the water at 08:30 sharp, Sat and Sun Morning.

Where: Montague Island is about 10km SE of Narooma on the South Coast. Ask any seal, they all seem to know where this island is.

The Plan: The Club has instigated a challenge to circumnavigate 10 NSW Islands in one year. To get the ball rolling I intend to run a trip to Montague Island.  See NSW Island Challenge for other upcoming challenge events.

I have allowed two days for the trip so we have more opportunities for a weather window. On the “off day” we can conduct a local trip or go to the island twice. If you only come for one of the days you have less chance of making it to the island.

We would launch from Mystery Bay (36°18'14.7"S 150°08'12.6"E - Cut and Paste into Google Maps) and go out and back, clockwise around the island.

Overnight Accommodation: I will be camping at the Mystery Bay Council Camp Ground (36°18'02.2"S 150°07'53.9"E) a very short drive to the launch site. I intend to get there on the Fri afternoon. Mystery Bay is about 5 Hours from Sydney and 3 a half hours from Canberra.

Distance:  It is a 26 km trip, with no opportunities for stopping on land (you are not allowed to land on the island). We may be able to stop briefly in the shallows for a stretch if conditions allow.

Finish Time: Before 16:00 each day.

I will only be taking 4 members per day but I have opened the registration to 10. Please be aware that by registering you are only registering your interest and are not guaranteed a position on the trip. I will finalise closer to the date. Feel free to email me (Josh Andrews)  (fjandrews(at)outlook.com) if you have any questions.
