Sea Skills Assessment November 12 2017

Sunday 12 November 2017, Broken Bay and adjacent coast

This full-day session is for those Club members wishing to be assessed for the Australian Canoeing Sea Skills Award (i.e. the Club’s Grade 3 standard).  It relates to the practical aspects of the award and consists of both on-land and on-water activities.

 An overview of the ACAS Sea Skills Award (including “Critical Areas of Assessment”) can be found at evidence guidelines for the award will be issued to members after they are formerly registered with Australian Canoeing as award candidates by the club training coordinator.

Apart from the practical assessment, the Sea Skills Award involves the preparation of a written assignment by each candidate and minimum logbook  entries as specified in both the overview and evidence guidelines.  

The written assignment brief will be emailed to candidates soon after they register for the practical assessment session.  Candidates will be encouraged to complete the written assignment prior to the practical assessment.  The Sea Skills Assessment Guide includes details of what is required for assignment completion.

Information relating to both the structure and the components of the practical assessment will be provided to candidates soon after they have registered through the on-line registration system.  A study guide to assist candidates prepare for the assessment can be found at:

Registration of your interest via the club website is will go to the Club Training Coordinator.  Spaces definitely limited.  Preference will be given to members who have completed the relevant logbook and written assignment prior to the day.
