Marramarra Creek Overnight Camping Trip - 30 Sep 2017

Where: Marramarra Creek
When: 30 Sep 2017
Grades: 2 and Up
Departing Palm Beach 8.30 AM
Distance: approx 60 kms.
Suitable for all paddlers who have previous experience or feel confident at paddling 20 km or more in a day. We will meet at Palm Beach and paddle to  Marramarra Creek via West Head, Dangar Island and Bar Island  The night will be cold so remember to bring suitable clothing.

Marramarra Creek is a little known tributary off Berowra Creek. It winds its way up into Marramarra National Park to a beautiful campsite, surrounded by towering cliffs. As we will arrive at the campsite at low tide, we may have to walk up the creek for a short distance pulling our kayaks.

This area has changed little since the first settlers arrived in the Hawkesbury area. En-route, we will stop at some isolated beaches and Bar Island to examine its historic past. Paddle distance 30 km each way. Expect to finish our journey about 3 PM on Sunday.

You are expected to be fully self supporting.
What you should bring with you:
Sunhat and sunscreen
Gas or fuel stove and fuel
Basic map of the area is a plus
kayak or sailing gloves
Sleeping bag and mat
Eating utensils…cup…plate…bowl…knife, fork
Torch with new battery
Basic first aid kit
We will probably transport some firewood in our boats for a campfire.
The trip is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if it appears that significant rain may fall.
