Introduction to Surf Skills Training – Umina Beach - Grade 2

This session is for those wanting to start learning about surf and aims give you a good introduction to managing surf in a kayak and build your confidence. Taking off and landing in surf are essential if you want to paddle more of the coast or progress to Sea Skills and this is the starting point for your surf skills.

There will be a mix of activities on land and on water during the day and we will cover basics of kayak surfing and safety while gradually introducing you to the techniques and skills required in a real surf environment. The exact location will be dependent on the available conditions nearer the time.

You will need a helmet, kayak to grade 2, snacks lunch and water. There may be a couple of spare helmets available if required. Obviously be prepared for immersion and take warm gear and windproof clothing e.g. cag for out of water activities such as lunch and briefings.

Your instructors will be Nick Blacklock and Adrian Clayton.
